The goal of the English Language Development (ELD) program is to have every student who is a multilingual learner achieve proficiency in English.
California English Language Development (ELD) Standards are unique in that they correspond with the rigorous California Common Core State Standards: English Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects. The CA ELD Standards define the progression of language acquisition through three stages of proficiency and recognize that the student’s native language plays an important role in learning English. Teachers use the CA ELD Standards document as a tool to inform their practice, making clear relationships between the English language and the student’s other language(s).
We look forward to working together with you and your children to ensure that all our multilingual learners meet the goals embodied in these standards.
The potential is endless!
